This is a Mokuzougan, wood inlay craft with cherry blossoms and Mt.Fuji.
Mokuzogan is a traditional craft technique, unique in the world, that uses various types of natural wood to create paintings and designs.
This technique was newly developed around the middle of the Meiji era in the Hakone and Odawara regions. A mechanical saw is attached to a yarn sawing machine, which saws along the pattern drawn on the base board to hollow out the board, and differently textured boards are inserted in the same shape as the hollowed out material to create the painting or design.
Due to the fact that the products are handmade using natural materials, the colors, patterns, and sizes may differ from those shown in the photos and descriptions on the website.
