This 100% tin Katakuchi, or sake bowl / sake pitcher, is recommended for those who want to enjoy sake with a mellow taste.
Since ancient times, tin has been used as a metal for sake and tea utensils, as it is said that "water in a tin vessel will not spoil" and that "sake tastes better because it is free of impurities. Pouring water into a katakuchi allows the sake to release its bitterness, making it more enjoyable to drink. It is also recommended for cold sake due to its good thermal conductivity.
The Gold version is a gorgeous katakuchi with gold leaf on the inside.
We have collaborated with Ishikawa prefecture's representative traditional craft, gold leaf. The glossy gold leaf enhances the sake even more. The flavor of the sake comes alive as it is, making it perfect for Daiginjo sake, which is especially liked when served cold. Since 100% tin is too soft for machine work, the katakuchi is finished one by one by craftsmen's hands, and is completed by applying gold leaf one by one by craftsmen's hands in Ishikawa prefecture.
In both cases, the craftsmen finish each piece by hand.
This tin katakuchi is soft and comfortable in the hand, and gives you a sense of warmth.
